I'm Posting this last process thing I made on here, Since I'll be changing the way I think about completing an illustration.. It's not entirely a bad process though, especially if you just want to make art on a whim, My new Illustrations will most likely be deriving from pre-planned concepts and telling a story, but here is a process for making an illustration purely from imagination and starting from Color! which is very welcome progress. (see red devil blog entry)
The Steps to make this freestyle illustration begins with a color thumbnail, into a refined sketch using a selected color pallette, then to drawing something from the blurred color/shape and finally to rendering the image completely. I specifically wanted to practice a texture overlay in this illustration to try and achieve what a bump map would do for a 3D Model. I don't hate it, but I think the lesson learned here is to try and choose your detail spots wisely as too much texture everywhere tends to flatten the image OR at least in my case, I am still learning. It's just an observation.
